Another Two Awards in the Golden Boy’s Bag
We are absolutely delighted to announce that we have been awarded two prestigious industry awards that recognise business and operating excellence.
At the recent ‘Route One Operator Excellence Awards’ we managed to see off stiff competition to win ‘Coach Operator of the Year’ (medium fleet, 11-30 vehicles). This award recognises excellence in areas such as quality and specification of vehicles, driver presentation and professionalism, staff training and innovation.
The awards also included five ‘people’ awards which recognise individuals who have been outstanding in their field. We are pleased to say that our chief engineer, Paul Murdoch, was the winner of the ‘Coach Engineer of the Year’ award.
Commenting on the awards, Mike Morgan, Chairman of the judges and Editor of Route One magazine says: ‘The winner is a company that prides itself on offering its customers an excellent service with an extremely young fleet of coaches driven by professional, well-trained and uniformed drivers.’
CoachMarque, passed with flying colours
Golden Boy Coaches very recently had an audit of verification and has been awarded CoachMarque status. A status that only another 43 coach operators in the UK qualify for.
CoachMarque is the only universally recognised kite mark of quality in the UK coach industry. It is concerned with all aspects of the business and not just the coach itself. All CoachMarque companies operate to a strict set of criteria and are regularly assessed by an independent third party to ensure compliance with the highest standards of operation.

Introducing – MASTER RORY
This is the UK’s first glass roofed theatre coach. It is referred to as a theatre coach due to the way the seating is laid out inside. Throughout the coach there is a very small incline which means you always sit a little bit higher than the person in front, just as you would in a theatre. The result being that even sitting on the back row you still get a good view out of the front. In addition to this the vehicle has a glass roof. This allows extra light into the vehicle giving it a very light and airy feel that you don’t get with other coaches. It also allows you to gaze up at the stars during night time travel.
This vehicle is a Van Hool T916 Astronef and it was supplied to us by Moseley PCV Limited. This is the second of our ‘high-liner spec’ vehicles. It has 53 reclining leather seats, a WC, fridge, hot water boiler, Wi-Fi and a DVD player with two LCD screens. This vehicle also features colour change lighting that looks fantastic at night time.
There is plenty of room for luggage too which means this vehicle is suitable for any kind of hire from a local theatre trip to a full UK or European tour.
Drivers swap coaches for classrooms!
All of our drivers have now completed another full day’s training and are well on their way to completing their Driver CPC Qualification. This time the course focussed on Customer Care.
This training was part of our ongoing Company Training Policy. This policy assists us in delivering some of the important factors that contribute to being a successful operator, which are, satisfied clients, professional well trained and uniformed drivers and a high standard of employee conditions.
Award Winning Service
Golden Boy Coaches recently entered the 56th UK Coach Rally held at Peterborough. During this event drivers took part in an 80 mile rally and a driving test to demonstrate the maximum manoeuvrability of the vehicles and the skill of the drivers. The vehicle was also judged to the highest standards with the judges taking into consideration the interior and exterior condition, cleanliness, passenger comfort and driver facilities.
We are very proud to say that we have been awarded two awards. Best coordinated coach interior and best uniform for a large coach operator. Both trophies have taken take pride of place at our depot in Hoddesdon.
Introducing – MASTER MATTHEW
This new vehicle certainly is something special. It is a Van Hool T916 Astron high-liner and was supplied to us by Moseley PCV Ltd.
Inside boasts 53 reclining leather seats, a WC, fridge, hot water boiler, Wi-Fi and a DVD player with three LCD screens.
One of the extra features this vehicle has is a camera fitted to the top of the windscreen. So even when you are sitting on the back row, you can look up at a screen and see the view outside, from a drivers point of view.
With this vehicle being a ‘high-liner’ it means there is plenty of room for luggage underneath, however there are still aircraft style lockers inside the cabin for smaller items.
This vehicle is suited for pretty much any kind of hire from UK and European tours to day trips and corporate hire.
Introducing – MASTER LIAM
Master Liam is our brand new Mercedes-Benz Tourino and was supplied to us by Evobus.
It has 32 luxury seats and other facilities include air conditioning, a DVD player, hot water boiler/coffee machine and an onboard WC.
With plenty of room for luggage too, it would be the ideal vehicle for a UK or European tour. Or maybe a day trip when you require something a bit special.
Introducing – MASTER PATRICK
Master Patrick is a new arrival to our fleet. It is a Mercedes-Benz Plaxton Cheetah and was supplied to us direct from Plaxtons.
This is our tenth Plaxton Cheetah and inside boasts 29 reclining leather seats for added comfort. Other facilities include air conditioning and a DVD player.
This vehicle is ideal for UK and European day trips. With plenty of room for luggage too, it is ideal for airport transfers.
Introducing – MASTER HUGO
Master Hugo is our third Optare Soroco mini coach. It was built by Optare and supplied to us by Taylor PCV Sales.
Interior features include 19 reclining leather seats, air conditioning and a DVD player.
Being a purpose built mini coach, it has a large boot space to the rear with plenty of room for luggage. This vehicle is perfect for a corporate hire when you are looking to impress clients, or maybe an evening trip to the theatre for a few family and friends.
